217 Endurance is a group of runners and triathletes with a common goal - pushing our personal limits.
Athletes have a wide range of abilities and goals - from runners targeting their first half marathon to experienced athletes chasing qualification for Ironman World Championships and the Boston Marathon. If you want to be a better athlete tomorrow than you are today, 217 is for you.
Why "217 Endurance"?
The name "217 Endurance" is a tribute to the late, great Peter Hanna, the "Godfather" of Cape Breton running. While battling cancer in 2022, Peter became the first person to complete all 17 legs of the Cabot Trail Relay twice. 217 Endurance aims to embody Peter's lifelong dedication, resolve and mental toughness - but most of all his love of sport and competition.

Head Coach - Aaron Manning

Aaron picked up running in 2014 when a buddy challenged him to run a half marathon, and he hasn't stopped running since. He has competed for clubs in Toronto, Montreal and Halifax and amassed personal bests of 2:23:36 in the marathon, 1:07:58 in the half and 6:43 in the beer mile. He was also part of the Slow Ships Cabot trail relay team which won back to back relays in 2024 and 2025.
The pillar of Aaron's coaching philosophy is consistency – the ultimate goal is to support each athlete in building a training regimen that allows them to achieve both near term racing goals and instill long term habits that work in sync with their lifestyle. No two athletes are the same, so no two athletes will get the exact same training plan.
